Friendship WeekIn an effort to tackle the problem of bullying, which can all too easily happen in the environment of school, we have revised and updated our anti-bullying policy. Prior to introducing our new policy we had a `friendship week`in school. During this week we concentrated on teaching pupils values such as empathy, respect, tolerance, and how to be a good friend. This was done in order to help prevent bullying behaviour from developing between individual pupils. Pupils were informed about what they should do should they experience bullying, or know of someone who is being bullied, and who they should tell. During this week a representative from each family was invited to attend a parents night on the 16th January 2008 in the school hall. An experienced guest speaker was engaged to introduce the new policy to parents, and discuss any concerns or questions parents might have. The hall was decorated with examples of children`s work that had been carried out on this topic during the week. The parents night was very informative and well received by parents. Our thanks to all who attended.
